Tri-Luma Cream is the only FDA-approved topical treatment used for the short-term treatment of moderate to severe melasma of the face. Tri-Luma is a triple combination of fluocinolone, hydroquinone, and tretinoin which work synergistically to reduce inflammation, even out skin pigmentation, and protect skin long-term.

Apply a thin film once daily to affected areas until control is achieved; not indicated for use beyond 8 weeks

To be used with broad-spectrum sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher

have not had a hypersensitivity reaction to fluocinolone, hydroquinone, tretinoin, or any component of the formulation
have a diagnosis of melasma and have already been using Tri-Luma topical cream as prescribed by an authorized healthcare provider
understand Tri-Luma cream is for topical use only; not for oral, ophthalmic, or intravaginal use
am not pregnant or breastfeeding
understand cutaneous hypersensitivity and contact dermatitis to individual ingredients have been reported
understand hydroquinone may produce exogenous ochronosis (gradual blue/black darkening of skin); if this occurs then discontinuation is recommended
understand prolonged treatment with corticosteroids is associated with development of Kaposi’s sarcoma (case reports); if noted, discontinuation of therapy should be considered
understand topical corticosteroids may be absorbed percutaneously. Absorption of topical corticosteroids may cause manifestations of Cushing’s syndrome, hyperglycemia, or glycosuria. Absorption is increased using occlusive dressings, application to denuded skin, or application to large surface areas.
Understand Tri-Luma Cream contains sodium metabisulfite which may cause hypersensitivity reactions, including anaphylaxis, in individuals with sulfite allergy
Understand Tri-Luma Cream has not been evaluated in skin types V and VI; excessive bleaching may occur in individuals with darker skin.
Will not nor intend to take the following medications due to severe or major drug-drug interactions: aminolevulinic acid, systemic methoxsalen, porfimer, verteporfin
Understand concurrent use with vitamin A may enhance adverse effects and excessive intake of vitamin A (cod liver oil, halibut fish oil) should be avoided
