Silver sulfadiazine is an antibiotic cream used for prevention and treatment of infection for second- and third-degree burns. Commonly prescribed to treat and prevent infection with severe sunburns characterized by blistering of the skin and severe pain.

- Applied with sterile gloves once or twice a day until healing occurs. Reapply after bathing and as needed so that burned areas are covered with cream at all times. Dressings may be used if needed.
