Rizatriptan ODT is a preferred treatment for the management of acute migraine headaches and nausea. The tablet will dissolve on the inside of your cheek making it easier to take if you have an upset stomach. It should not be used for more than 10 days a month or for chronic headaches.

Used to alleviate migraine headaches and preferred if experiencing nausea or vomiting

Dissolved on the tongue as a single dose at the first sign of onset or pain

May repeat dose one time after 2 hours if no relief, with a maximum dose of 20 mg

Can be taken with or without food

Not suitable to use for more than 10 days per month or individuals with allergy to phenylalanine or phenylketonuria (PKU)

Rizatriptan ODT is a preferred treatment for the management of acute migraine headaches and nausea. The tablet will dissolve on the inside of your cheek to help avoid swallowing nad stomach upset. It should not be used for more than 10 days a month or for chronic headaches.

I agree that I:

am 18 years or older
have not had a hypersensitivity reaction to rizatriptan or any component of the formulation
have a diagnosis of migraines and have already taken rizatriptan as prescribed by an authorized healthcare provider
am not pregnant or breastfeeding
do not have a history of cardiovascular disease or ischemic coronary artery disease (e.g. history of heart attack (myocardial infarction), angina pectoris)
do not have a history of Prinzmetal angina
do not have a history of stroke or transient ischemic attack
do not have the following conditions: peripheral vascular disease, ischemic bowel disease, uncontrolled hypertension
do not have migraine with aura, hemiplegic migraine, or migraine with brainstem aura
have not used a monoamine oxidase inhibitor (MAOI) such as isocarboxazid, phenelzine, tranylcypromine, or selegiline currently or within the past 14 days
have not taken another triptan (e.g. sumatriptan) or ergotamine (e.g. methysergide, dihydroergotamine) in the past 24 hours
am not pregnant or breastfeeding
understand this medication increases the risk of life-threatening events including heart attack, stroke, cardiac arrest, splenic infarction, and death
understand use of this medication for more than 10 days per month may worsen headaches
understand this medication may cause vision loss or abnormalities
do not have hepatic (liver) impairment, renal (kidney) impairment

Rizatriptan ODT Medication Description
Rizatriptan ODT (orally disintegrating tablets) is a prescription medication used for the acute treatment of migraine headaches, particularly when nausea or vomiting makes swallowing tablets difficult. As a triptan, it works by narrowing widened blood vessels in the brain and blocking pain pathways, which helps relieve migraine symptoms such as headache, light sensitivity, and nausea. The orally disintegrating tablet dissolves on the tongue, allowing for quick and convenient administration without the need for water.

Rizatriptan ODT is intended for use at the first sign of migraine pain and is not for the prevention of migraine attacks or for the treatment of chronic headaches.

Usage Instructions
- Place the tablet on your tongue and allow it to dissolve completely; do not chew or swallow whole
- Take a single dose at the first sign of migraine onset or pain
- If symptoms return, a second dose may be taken at least 2 hours later
- Do not exceed 20 mg in a 24-hour period
- May be taken with or without food
Warnings & Precautions
- Not suitable for individuals with a history or high risk of coronary artery disease unless evaluated by a healthcare provider
- Avoid use if you have uncontrolled high blood pressure, certain heart rhythm disorders, or a history of stroke
- Contains phenylalanine—do not use if you have phenylketonuria (PKU) or an allergy to phenylalanine
- Possible side effects include fatigue, dizziness, tingling, flushing, or drowsiness
- Rare but serious side effects include severe dizziness, vision changes, burning or numbness, or vomiting; seek medical attention if these occur
- Do not take other triptans or ergotamine-containing medications within 24 hours of rizatriptan use
- Not intended for use on more than 10 days per month to avoid medication overuse headaches
Rizatriptan ODT Side Effects

Side effects may include fatigue and loss of energy. Although rare, additional side effects include severe dizziness, vision changes, burning or numbness, and vomiting.
