Proctozone-HC® Medication Description

Proctozone-HC® (hydrocortisone 2.5%) is a prescription-strength topical corticosteroid formulated to relieve itching, irritation, swelling, and discomfort caused by hemorrhoids. Hydrocortisone works by reducing inflammation and calming the skin’s immune response, providing targeted relief for sensitive, inflamed tissue. This cream is intended for short-term use to alleviate symptoms while other measures, such as dietary fiber intake and improved bowel habits, help address underlying causes.

Proctozone-HC® is typically applied after bathing or cleansing to help soothe and protect the affected area. When used as directed, it can help reduce pain, itching, and swelling to make daily activities more comfortable.

Usage Instructions

• Apply a small amount to the affected rectal area up to twice daily, or as directed by your healthcare provider

• For best results, apply to clean, moist skin after bathing or washing

• Use only for the shortest duration necessary to relieve symptoms, typically no longer than 1 week

• Wash hands thoroughly before and after application

• Avoid covering the treated area with occlusive dressings unless directed by a provider

Warnings & Precautions

• For external use only; do not ingest or apply inside the rectum unless directed by your provider

• Prolonged use may thin the skin or cause other corticosteroid-related side effects

• Avoid use on broken skin or areas with infection unless prescribed for that purpose

• Consult a healthcare provider before use if pregnant, breastfeeding, or if you have other skin conditions in the area

• Keep out of reach of children and avoid contact with eyes
