Mupirocin is a topical antibiotic used to treat impetigo due to Staphylococcus aureus and Streptococcus pyogenes. It may also be used to treat secondary skin infections (e.g., localized infection of wounds, burns, dermatitis).

  • Mupirocin is a topical antibiotic ointment used to treat impetigo and secondary skin infections that works by killing bacteria and preventing bacterial growth on the skin.
  • Applied topically to the affected area 2 to 3 times a day for 5 days (impetigo) or 7-14 days (secondary skin infections)
