Hydroxyzine is an antihistamine used to relieve itching caused by allergic skin conditions such as atopic dermatitis (eczema), contact dermatitis and hives. Due to its effects on certain receptors in the brain, it may also be used to treat anxiety and tension. It is taken as needed and is for short-term use (less than 4 months) since tolerance develops over time and may decrease effectiveness of hydroxyzine.

Trazodone is a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) that can be used to treat insomnia. It can cause drowsiness that will help with faster sleep onset and sleep maintenance. Due to the serotonergic activity, trazodone can also be used to treat low mood.
