am 18 years or older
have not had a hypersensitivity reaction to loteprednol, other corticosteroids, or any component of the formulation
do not have a viral disease in the eye, including herpes simplex keratitis, varicella or vaccinia
do not have a mycobacteria infection or fungal infection of the eye
have not recently undergone cataract surgery and do not have cataracts, corneal thinning, or glaucoma
understand that prolonged use of steroids, including loteprednol, may result in increased intraocular pressure and/or glaucoma
understand that prolonged use of steroids, including loteprednol, may increase the risk of developing cataracts, particularly posterior subcapsular cataracts
do not have a sensitivity to benzalkonium chloride
understand this product may contain propylene glycol which may have serious side effects when exposed in large quantities
do not have a bleeding disorder, diabetes, rheumatoid arthritis, or an ocular disease
am not pregnant or breastfeeding
Understand that corticosteroids can suppress the immune response, making it easier for infections to develop
Understand that Loteprednol should be used cautiously in patients with a history of eye infections, including herpes simplex virus (which can be reactivated)
understand I must remove contact lenses before instilling eye drops understand contact lenses may be applied at least 15 minutes after applying loteprednol but it is recommended to refrain from wearing contact lenses during use
understand other eye drops may be applied at least 5 minutes after applying loteprednol eye drops
am using this medication for allergy relief
will discontinue the use of this product if local sensitivity or changes in eyesight occur

Loteprednol Medication Description

Loteprednol is a corticosteroid eye drop used to relieve allergic eye symptoms such as redness, swelling, and irritation. It works by reducing inflammation at the site of irritation, often providing rapid relief from seasonal or allergic conjunctivitis and other inflammatory eye conditions. Loteprednol may be chosen over other steroids due to its lower risk of causing side effects like increased intraocular pressure when used as directed.

The drops are applied directly to the affected eye typically up to four times daily, depending on the severity of symptoms and provider instructions. It is important to shake the bottle well before each use to ensure the medication is evenly distributed within the bottle.

How To Use:

May be prescribed to Instill one drop into the affected eye(s) up to four times daily, follow your provider's instructions. May be used alongside other ophthalmic solutions if advised by your provider, and should be spaced at least 5 minutes apart to avoid washout. Symptom improvement may be noted within a few days, with continued use offering longer-term relief as inflammation subsides. Contact lenses must be removed prior to instillation.

Precautions:

It is recommended to avoid lens use entirely if eye redness or irritation persists due to allergies. Prolonged use of steroid eye drops may increase the risk of eye infections or raise intraocular pressure — monitor regularly if using long term.
