Used to treat high blood pressure alone or as an add-on therapy to other medications in reducing blood pressure

Starting dose is typically 25 mg to 50 mg once daily, and may be increased up to 100 mg as needed for blood pressure control as a maintenance dose

Can be taken with or without food, but recommended to follow a consistent regimen of food intake while taking this medication

May be preferred if individuals experience a drug-induced cough from other blood pressure medications, including lisinopril

am 18 years or older
have not had a hypersensitivity reaction to losartan or any component of the formulation
am not pregnant or breastfeeding; taking losartan while pregnant may cause injury or death to the fetus
have a diagnosis of high blood pressure and have already been taking losartan as prescribed by an authorized healthcare provider
understand this medication may cause too low blood pressure and dizziness, which must be monitored, and dose adjusted as needed
do not have a diagnosis of diabetes and am taking aliskiren
do have liver (hepatic) or kidney (renal) impairment
understand this medication may cause angioedema, which is characterized by sudden swelling in areas under the skin and throat closure. I will discontinue this medication and seek medical attention immediately.
do not have the following conditions; aortic or mitral stenosis, ascites, or renal artery stenosis
understand this medication may cause acute kidney injury and high potassium levels
