Topical ketoconazole is used to treat skin infections caused by fungus or yeast, working to inhibit fungal growth. Ketoconazole cream is used for treatment of tinea corporis (ringworm of the body), tinea cruris (jock itch), tinea pedis (athlete’s foot), tinea versicolor (“sun fungus”), cutaneous candidiasis (yeast infection of the skin), and seborrheic dermatitis.
- Fungal and yeast infections may be slow to clear up so it’s important to use ketoconazole cream for the full course of treatment even if symptoms begin to clear after a few days
