Ketoconazole cream is a topical antifungal prescription medication used to treat fungal and yeast infections of the skin. It works by inhibiting the growth of fungi that cause infections, offering potential relief from symptoms such as redness, itching, scaling, and inflammation. Ketoconazole is commonly prescribed for dermatologic fungal infections such as tinea corporis (ringworm of the body), tinea cruris (jock itch), tinea pedis (athlete’s foot), tinea versicolor (also known as “sun fungus”), cutaneous candidiasis (yeast infections of the skin), and seborrheic dermatitis.
This medication is applied directly to the affected skin area and is generally well-tolerated.
How To Use:
Apply a thin layer to the affected skin once or twice daily, as prescribed by a healthcare provider. Wash hands before and after application to prevent spreading infection. Treatment time varies by condition but may range from 2 to 4 weeks or longer for full resolution.
Warnings: For external use only. Avoid contact with eyes, mouth, or broken skin. Discontinue use and consult a provider if irritation worsens or if there’s no improvement after the prescribed period.
