Hyoscyamine is an anticholinergic medication used to treat gastrointestinal disorders which include irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), peptic ulcers, and spasms in the stomach, intestines or bladder. Since hyoscyamine is available in a sublingual dosage form, it works quickly to alleviate symptoms. This medication reduces stomach acid production, slows the natural movements of the digestive tract by relaxing the muscles.

Am 18 years or older; and under the age of 65
Will use this medication for my own personal use and as indicated for GI symptoms associated with IBS
Have been diagnosed with IBS and have experienced GI symptoms (abdominal pain and cramping, bloating, etc.)
Am already taking this medication for GI symptoms associated with IBS
Understand and am aware that this medication is considered an anticholinergic medication and can interact with other anticholinergic medications that can increase the risk of adverse effects of hyoscyamine
Have not had a hypersensitivity reaction to hyoscyamine or any component of the formulation
Do not have a history of glaucoma
Do not have a history of obstructive uropathy
Do not have a history of paralytic ileus, intestinal atony, unstable cardiovascular disease, severe ulcerative colitis, toxic megacolon complicating ulcerative colitis
Do not have a history of myasthenia gravis
Do not have a history of myocardial ischemia
Understand and am aware that this medication may cause drowsiness or blurred vision that can impair physical or mental abilities
Understand that prolonged use may lead to development of dental caries, periodontal disease, oral candidiasis or discomfort due to decrease salivation
Understand that psychosis has been reported in patients with an extreme sensitivity to anticholinergic effects
Do not have a history of hiatal hernia with reflux esophagitis
Do not have a history of hyperthyroidism
Do not have a history of autonomic neuropathy, prostatic hyperplasia or renal impairment
Understand that it’s recommended to avoid long-term use for older adults
Am not currently taking aclidinium
Am not currently taking cimetropium
Am not taking eluxadoline
Am not taking glycopyrrolate or glycopyrronium
Am not taking ipratropium
Am not taking oxatomide, potassium chloride, potassium citrate, pramlintide, revefenacin, rivastigmine, sofpironium, tiotropium or umeclidinium.
