Proctofoam® HC

Proctofoam-HC is a topical foam used to help alleviate anorectal itching and inflammation. The combination therapy of a topical steroid and local anesthetic improves symptoms from hemorrhoids or general rectal irritation.

have not had a hypersensitivity reaction to hydrocortisone, pramoxine, or any component of the formulation
am not pregnant or breastfeeding
understand that skin thinning and integrity affects medication absorption and should be avoided in older adults
understand this medication may increase the risk of contact dermatitis
will not insert any part of the container directly into the anus
understand the topical formulation of this product, is unlikely to, but may cause systemic effects (e.g. Cushing syndrome, high blood sugar) if used for a prolonged period of time, applied to large areas, or wrapped in occlusive dressing
will discontinue the use of this product if local sensitivity occurs or if no improvement after 2 to 3 weeks of use
will contact my provider if symptoms remain for 7 days or longer after use
will use the medication as prescribed for the appropriate treatment and duration

Medication Description

Hydrocortisone-Pramoxine cream is a combination topical medication commonly prescribed for relief of itching, swelling, and discomfort associated with hemorrhoids and other minor skin irritations. Hydrocortisone reduces inflammation, while pramoxine is a local anesthetic that helps numb the skin and provide quick relief from pain and itching. Together, they are formulated to calm sensitive areas and improve comfort.

For best results, apply a thin layer of cream to clean, dry skin—typically up to three to four times daily, or as directed by a healthcare provider. This medication is intended for short-term use only and should not be used for more than 7 days unless advised by a physician. Prolonged use may increase the risk of side effects such as skin thinning.

How To Use:

Prescription-strength combination of hydrocortisone (anti-inflammatory) and pramoxine (numbing agent)

Provides relief from itching, redness, swelling, and discomfort

Apply sparingly to affected area up to 3–4 times daily

Most effective when applied after gentle cleansing

Limit use to 7 days unless otherwise directed by a healthcare provider
Side Effects

Side effects may include tingling, burning and dry skin.
