Estradiol vaginal cream is a low-dose estrogen therapy used to treat moderate to severe vaginal symptoms associated with menopause, such as dryness, burning, and painful intercourse. This formulation is preferred when symptoms are localized to the vaginal area, as it has been shown in studies to provide effective relief with lower systemic absorption and reduced risk of widespread estrogen-related side effects.
The cream is inserted directly into the vagina using a pre-measured applicator and is FDA-approved to treat vulvovaginal atrophy due to menopause. Patients typically use it once daily for the first two weeks of therapy, then reduce to a maintenance dose of one to three applications per week.
How To Use:
Use only as directed by a healthcare provider
Insert cream using the included applicator, ideally at bedtime
Recommended for women 60 years or younger or within 10 years of menopause
Each tube contains 42.5 grams of estradiol cream
Warnings:
Not recommended for individuals with a history of estrogen-sensitive cancers or undiagnosed vaginal bleeding
Routine check-ins may be necessary to reassess treatment appropriateness
Patients should review personal and family risk factors with their provider before starting therapy
