Am 18 years or older
Have not had a hypersensitivity reaction to dicyclomine or any component of its formulation
Do not have obstructive uropathy
Do not have severe ulcerative colitis
Do not have a history of reflux esophagitis or obstructive disease of the GI tract
Do not have a history of glaucoma
Do not have myasthenia gravis
Do not have a history of unstable heart disease or significant bleeding (hemorrhage)
Am not pregnant or breastfeeding
Understand this medication may not be appropriate for older adults and long-term use should be avoided due to additive anticholinergic effects which may result in dry mouth, blurred vision, urinary retention, constipation and altered mental state
Do not take other sedative drugs or alcohol, which could increase risk of drowsiness and dizziness and impair my alertness or ability to drive or operate heavy machinery
Will discontinue this medication if I experience diarrhea, which may be a sign of an intestinal blockage

Medication Description
Dicyclomine is an antispasmodic medication prescribed for the relief of abdominal pain and intestinal cramping associated with irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). It works by relaxing the smooth muscles of the gastrointestinal tract, thereby decreasing the frequency and severity of spasms that contribute to bloating, cramping, and discomfort.

This medication is typically taken as needed, with usual doses ranging from 10 mg to 20 mg up to four times per day. In some cases, dicyclomine may be taken in anticipation of known triggers (such as certain foods or stressful situations) to prevent IBS flare-ups before they start.

Because dicyclomine works quickly and does not treat the underlying cause of IBS, it is intended for short-term use only—typically for periods up to 2 weeks consecutively. It may be particularly beneficial for patients who experience predictable episodes of abdominal cramping or spasms.

How to Use:
