Diclofenac is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory (NSAID) medication indicated for pain or inflammation associated with arthritis, migraine, and menstruation. Diclofenac delayed release tablets are dosed twice a day.

Diclofenac is used for pain and inflammation associated with arthritis (osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis and ankylosing spondylitis), painful menstruation and migraines

Typically taken as 1 tablet by mouth twice a day (every 12 hours)

When taken for painful periods, begin at menses onset or 1 to 2 days prior to onset for severe symptoms

Take with food or milk to minimize stomach upset

Am taking this medication for my own personal use
Have not had a hypersensitivity reaction to diclofenac or any component of the formulation
Do not have a history of asthma, hives or other allergic-type reactions after taking aspirin or other NSAIDs (e.g., ibuprofen, naproxen, celecoxib, meloxicam, indomethacin)
Am not pregnant or breastfeeding and understand this medication may be associated with an increased risk of miscarriage
Do not have a history of coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) surgery
Understand and am aware diclofenac has a boxed warning for increased risk of serious cardiovascular thrombotic events, increasing risk for heart attack (myocardial infarction) and stroke. I understand this risk may occur early in treatment and increases with duration of use.
Understand and am aware diclofenac has a boxed warning for increased risk of serious GI adverse events including ulcers, bleeding or fatal damage to the stomach or intestines. These events could occur at any time and without warning symptoms.
Understand adults 65 years and older are at high risk for side effects such as asymptomatic peptic ulcer and/or hemorrhage, compromised kidney function, confusion, agitation and hallucination. The lowest effective dose should be used for the shortest period possible.
Do not have a history of aspirin-sensitive asthma
Do not have a history of bariatric surgery
Do not have liver (hepatic) or severe kidney (renal) impairment (CrCl <30 mL/min)
Understand this medication may cause drowsiness which may impair physical and cognitive abilities
Am not taking any blood thinners (e.g., warfarin, Xarelto, Eliquis, dabigatran, enoxaparin)
Understand this medication may interact with medications being metabolized similarly, including lithium, warfarin, methotrexate, phenytoin, SSRIs, and blood pressure medications (e.g., furosemide, losartan, torsemide) so concomitant use should be avoided
Will discontinue use if I experience recurring stomach pain, bleeding or bruising, or any other serious medical problems while taking this medication

Medication Description
Diclofenac sodium delayed-release tablets are a prescription non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) used to treat pain and inflammation associated with a range of conditions, including osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, primary dysmenorrhea (painful periods), and migraines.

Diclofenac works by inhibiting the enzyme cyclooxygenase (COX), which is involved in the production of prostaglandins that trigger inflammation and pain in the body. By reducing the levels of prostaglandins, diclofenac helps alleviate joint stiffness, swelling, and discomfort caused by arthritis and other inflammatory disorders.

The delayed-release formulation is specifically designed to bypass the stomach and dissolve in the intestines, which may reduce gastrointestinal irritation and discomfort commonly associated with NSAIDs.

How to Use:
- Typically taken as 1 tablet by mouth every 12 hours with a full glass of water
- May be taken with food or milk to minimize gastrointestinal side effects
- For menstrual pain, often recommended to start treatment at the onset of menstruation or 1–2 days prior if symptoms are expected to be severe
Warnings:
- Use the lowest effective dose for the shortest duration necessary
- May increase the risk of heart attack or stroke with long-term use
- Can cause stomach bleeding, especially in older adults or those taking other NSAIDs or blood thinners
Side Effects

Diclofenac side effects may include constipation, diarrhea, stomach pain, vomiting, gas, heartburn, dizziness or headache, and flu-like symptoms.

Severe side effects may include bleeding, high blood pressure, shortness of breath, chest pain, kidney problems, high potassium levels, Stevens-Johnson syndrome and feeling very tired/weak.
