Clindamycin and benzoyl peroxide is used for the treatment of acne. In combination with benzoyl peroxide, clindamycin provides anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties as a topical antibiotic.

have not had a hypersensitivity reaction to benzoyl peroxide, clindamycin, lincomycin, or any component of the formulation
do not have a history of enteritis or colitis (e.g. ulcerative colitis, pseudomembranous colitis, or antibiotic associated colitis)
will discontinue the use of the product and contact my doctor if bowel problems occur including abdominal pain, cramps, severe diarrhea, or bloody stool occurs
will discontinue use of the product if a hypersensitivity reaction occurs, including trouble breathing, eye swelling, facial swelling, or itching
will discontinue use of the product if severe skin reaction including itching, burning, or stinging occurs
understand benzoyl peroxide may cause bleaching of clothing and hair, and may worsen if combined with products such as dapsone or sulfacetamide

will use this product for external use only, avoiding eyes, mouth, vaginal and rectal use

Medication Description

Clindamycin and benzoyl peroxide topical gel is a combination acne medication used to treat mild to moderate inflammatory acne. Clindamycin is a topical antibiotic that works by inhibiting bacterial protein synthesis, helping to reduce the number of acne-causing bacteria and inflammation on the skin. Benzoyl peroxide is a keratolytic agent and antibacterial that penetrates pores to clear out dead skin cells and excess sebum while killing surface bacteria that contribute to acne formation.

The synergistic effect of these two active ingredients targets multiple causes of acne—bacterial growth, clogged pores, and inflammation—making it a first-line treatment option for inflammatory acne.

This medication is well tolerated by most individuals and typically starts to show results in 2 to 6 weeks of consistent use. Maximal benefit is often seen within 12 weeks. Continued use as prescribed can help maintain clearer skin.

How to Use:

Apply a thin layer to clean, dry skin once or twice daily or as directed

Avoid eyes, lips, and inside of the nose

Wash hands after application

Use sunscreen daily to prevent photosensitivity

Warnings:

May cause dryness, redness, or peeling, especially in the first few weeks

Avoid using other harsh topical products unless advised by a provider

Not for use in individuals with a history of antibiotic sensitivity without prior consultation

Discontinue if severe irritation or allergic reaction develops
Side Effects

Side effects may include dry skin, itching, burning, and sun sensitivity.
