Medication Description
Carvedilol is a prescription beta-blocker used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension), mild to severe heart failure, and left ventricular dysfunction following a heart attack.
It works by blocking beta-adrenergic receptors, which reduces heart rate and the force of contraction, while also promoting vasodilation (widening of blood vessels). This helps lower blood pressure, reduce the heart's workload, and improve heart function over time.
How To Use:
Dosage varies based on indication and individual responses.
It's recommended to always take with food to reduce the risk of orthostatic hypotension (a sudden drop in blood pressure when standing or sitting)
May be used alone or in combination with other antihypertensives
Dosage adjustments should be guided by your doctor based on response and tolerance
Note: Regular monitoring of blood pressure, heart rate, and symptoms is important during titration.
