Albendazole is used to treat infections caused by parasites (e.g., pinworm, hookworm, roundworm, and tapeworm). Albendazole works by keeping the parasite from absorbing sugar, thereby causing the parasite to lose energy and die.
- Albendazole is used to treat parasitic infections (e.g. pinworm)
- Dosing for pinworm is 400 mg as a single dose and repeated in 2 weeks
- Recommended to take with a high-fat meal for best absorption
- The entire household should be treated for pinworm infection as eggs are easily spread amongst family members

Side Effects
Side effects may include headache, increased liver enzymes, abdominal pain, nausea and vomiting. Severe side effects may include fever and increased intracranial pressure.
