Torsemide is a medication used to reduce fluid retention in the body and can help lower blood pressure. Often used if desired affects are not achieved with furosemide. 

  • Used to treat fluid retention and has effect on lowering blood pressure

  • Initial dosing is 10 mg to 20 mg and may be increased as needed for fluid retention

  • Side Effects

    Side effects may include dizziness, headache, upset stomach, decreased appetite, light sensitivity, and stomach cramps. This medication may interact with nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), such as ibuprofen, naproxen, and aspirin. Avoid using NSAIDs in combination with torsemide as it may decrease its effectiveness.
