Furosemide is a loop diuretic used to reduce fluid retention (edema) caused by conditions such as heart failure, liver disease, and kidney disorders. It also helps lower high blood pressure (hypertension) by decreasing excess fluid volume in the body. This medication works by helping the kidneys remove sodium and water through increased urine output.
