Pioglitazone is a medication used to help lower blood sugar in patients with Type 2 diabetes.

  • Used as an add-on treatment to lower blood sugar for patients with Type 2 diabetes
  • Can also be used as a single therapy for diabetes if other medications are not tolerated
  • Initial dosing is 15 mg once daily and may be increased every 4 to 12 weeks as needed to reach blood sugar goals
  • Maximum dose is 45 mg daily
