Tazarotene Cream
Generic For Tazorac®
starting at $139.99

Tazarotene cream is a topical retinoid used to treat acne, psoriasis, and signs of skin aging. It works by regulating skin cell growth and reducing inflammation, which helps unclog pores, smooth rough patches, and promote even skin tone. As a vitamin A derivative, tazarotene increases cell turnover, leading to clearer skin over time. Due to its potency, it may cause dryness, redness, or peeling, so using a moisturizer and sunscreen is recommended during treatment.

  • Tazarotene Cream Side Effects

Tazarotene cream side effects may include skin irritation, such as redness, burning, itching, and peeling, particularly in the first few weeks of use. It can also increase skin sensitivity to sunlight, raising the risk of sunburn. Dryness and flaking are common but can often be managed with a gentle moisturizer. Some users may experience a temporary worsening of acne or psoriasis before seeing improvement. Mild stinging or warmth upon application is also possible and usually subsides over time. In rare cases, tazarotene may cause skin discoloration, severe irritation, swelling, blistering, or excessive peeling, which may require discontinuation. The medication can also increase susceptibility to irritation from harsh skincare products, such as exfoliants or alcohol-based cleansers. If it comes into contact with the eyes, it may cause irritation. Importantly, tazarotene is contraindicated during pregnancy due to the risk of birth defects.
