Malathion is a prescription-strength topical pediculicide used to treat active infestations of head lice and their eggs (ova) in individuals aged 6 and older. It works by disrupting the nervous system of the lice, leading to their death. Malathion works against both live lice and some ova, reducing the likelihood of reinfestation when used properly.
This treatment should be combined with environmental hygiene measures to ensure complete eradication of lice. Patients are advised to wash all recently worn clothing, bedding, and accessories in hot water and dry on high heat. Items that cannot be washed should be sealed in a plastic bag for at least two weeks or dry-cleaned.
How To Use:
Apply Malathion lotion to dry hair and scalp, saturating all areas, and allow it to remain on for 8–12 hours before washing off, as directed by a healthcare provider. A second application may be recommended 7–9 days later if live lice are still present. Lice typically die within a few hours of the first application. Full removal of lice and nits may take longer and may require manual combing for best results.

For external use only. Keep away from mouth, eyes, and mucous membranes. Flammable—do not use near open flame or heat source.
Malathion side effects may include: headaches, nausea, dizziness, weakness, cramps, diarrhea, excessive sweating, blured vision and increased heart rate.
