Exenatide is a prescription medication used to help improve blood sugar control in adults with type 2 diabetes. It works by mimicking a natural hormone in the body called GLP-1, which helps the pancreas release insulin when blood sugar is high, slows digestion, and reduces the amount of sugar made by the liver. It is commonly used along with diet and exercise, and in some cases with other diabetes medications, to support better daily glucose management.
Exenatide belongs to a class of medications called GLP-1 receptor agonists. It helps lower blood sugar in several ways, including increasing glucose-dependent insulin secretion, decreasing inappropriate glucagon release after meals, and slowing how quickly food leaves the stomach. These effects can help reduce blood sugar spikes after eating and may also help some patients feel fuller sooner, which can sometimes lead to modest weight loss. Exenatide is not used to treat type 1 diabetes and should not be used in place of insulin for patients who need insulin therapy.
The medication is given by injection and is typically used as part of a broader diabetes treatment plan that includes nutrition, physical activity, and routine blood sugar monitoring. Patients should be counseled on proper injection technique, timing of administration, and the importance of monitoring for side effects or changes in blood sugar, especially if exenatide is used with sulfonylureas or insulin, which can increase the risk of hypoglycemia. Kidney function, gastrointestinal tolerance, and overall response to treatment should also be considered during therapy.
Exenatide Injection Pens Side Effects
Common side effects of exenatide include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, constipation, decreased appetite, indigestion, and injection site reactions. Nausea is especially common when first starting the medication and often improves over time. More serious but less common risks include pancreatitis, kidney problems, gallbladder issues, and low blood sugar when used with certain other diabetes medications. Patients should seek medical attention right away if they develop severe abdominal pain, persistent vomiting, signs of dehydration, or symptoms of an allergic reaction.

Company FAQs
What to Know About TelyRx
What is TelyRx and how does it work?
TelyRx.com is a digital platform that connects you with a provider allowing you to seek a prescription for medications via telehealth. Once you receive a prescription and the order is processed, TelyRx pharmacy delivers your medications directly to your doorstep through mail or courier services.
Is it safe to order medications online?
Reputable pharmacies like TelyRx prioritize safety and adhere to strict quality standards. We connect you with a licensed healthcare professional to help you get a valid prescription. We verify the prescription and provider before we ship prescription medications. To minimize risk, we carry only non-controlled substances. Additionally, we have encrypted payment systems and maintain your privacy by protecting your personal information.
How long does it take to receive my order?
The delivery time will vary based on the shipping method you choose. We can get it there as soon as next day depending on when your order is placed. We provide an estimated delivery time frame during the checkout process.
How do I get prescribed a medication if my doctor is not in the TelyRx system?
TelyRx offers a quick and easy way to obtain a prescription by using telehealth. Your doctor doesn't need to be in the TelyRx system. The providers who use our site review the information that you certify is accurate, and then, relying on that information write a prescription for medicine that helps with what you're going through, if they deem it appropriate to do so in their professional judgement.
How can I transfer my prescription from my doctor?
Yes. The optional $22 doctor visit fee (a charge for a service not provided by TelyRx, but by independent providers licensed in your state) is added when you indicate that you need a prescription for one or more of the selected medications. The issuance of a prescription (or prescriptions) is entirely within the provider's discretion, but you will only be charged the fee if a prescription is issued. The doctor's visit is not a bundled service, and a prescription need not be generated through TelyRx's platform as a condition of purchase. If you already have a valid (and unexpired) unfilled prescription from a licensed prescriber for the specific drug, dosage, quantity, and formulation you seek from TelyRx, you can mail a copy of the prescription (along with your name, address, telephone number, and email address) to our pharmacy at 24761 US Hwy 19 N, Clearwater, Florida 33763, and a manual order will be initiated. Alternatively, you can have your provider fax your prescription directly to our pharmacy at (813) 845-8520. The manual order will include the pharmacy validating the prescription consistent with Florida pharmacy law. Please be advised that this process can take up to 3 days after the pharmacy received your prescription. If and when the prescription is validated, the pharmacy will reach out to you via phone and confirm your shipping and payment information, then dispense and ship the medication(s).
