Ibuprofen is used for pain or inflammation associated commonly associated with general pain, migraine, painful menstrual cycles, and arthritis. Prescription-strength ibuprofen allows for pain alleviation in fewer doses and is only avaliable with a prescription.  

  • Prescription strength ibuprofen recommended for moderate pain or inflammation, including general pain, painful menstrual cycles, migraine, and arthritis
  • Taken every 12 hours as needed not to exceed 1.2 grams daily
  • Take with food to minimize stomach upset
  • Not recommended for use more than 10 consecutive days

    Side effects include stomach upset, heartburn and dizziness. Rare but more serious side effects include kidney problems, ringing in the ears, and back pain.
