am 18 years or older

have not had a hypersensitivity reaction to doxazosin or similar medications (e.g. prazosin, terazosin) or any component of the formulation
do not have a history of severe liver (hepatic, Child-Pugh Class C) or kidney (renal) impairment
have a diagnosis of enlarged prostate (benign prostatic hyperplasia) and have already been taking doxazosin as prescribed by an authorized healthcare provider
am taking this medication for the intended treatment of enlarged prostate
do not have heart failure, angina pectoris, or a heart attack within the last 6 months
understand if receiving cataract or glaucoma surgery, there is a risk for floppy iris syndrome
have already been taking the initial dose (doxazsoin 1 mg) or preceding dose (doxazosin 2 mg) or have been previously prescribed a higher dose of doxazosin if selecting doxazosin 2 mg or 4 mg

Medication Description
Doxazosin is a prescription alpha-1 adrenergic blocker used to improve urinary symptoms caused by benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), a non-cancerous enlargement of the prostate gland.

BPH commonly leads to symptoms such as difficulty starting urination, weak stream, frequent urination (especially at night), and incomplete bladder emptying. Doxazosin works by relaxing the smooth muscles in the prostate and bladder neck, which helps improve urine flow and reduce associated discomfort.

Doxazosin is often prescribed as part of a broader treatment plan and may be used in combination with other medications for BPH, such as 5-alpha-reductase inhibitors or PDE5 inhibitors, depending on the patient’s specific symptoms and response.

How to Use:
- Typical starting dosage is 1mg once daily
- Dose may be gradually increased based on tolerance and symptom improvement
- Take at the same time each day, with or without food
Warnings:
- If two or more doses are missed,contact your provider for instructions on how to restart treatment
- May cause dizziness or lightheadedness, especially when standing up (orthostatic hypotension)
- Use caution when driving or operating machinery until you know how this medication affects you
- Inform your provider if you are scheduled for cataract surgery
Side Effects

Side effects may include dizziness, tiredness, weakness, and headache. Serious side effects that require immediate medical help are rare but may include shortness of breath, chest pain, and painful erection lasting more than 4 hours.
