Dorzolamide/Timolol ophthalmic solution are prescription eye drops used to treat glaucoma. This medication combines a carbonic anhydrase inhibitor (dorzolamide) and a beta-blocker (timolol) to lower high levels of pressure in the eye.

Reduces elevated intraocular pressure in patients with open-angle glaucoma or ocular high blood pressure who are insufficiently responsive to beta-blockers

Remove contact lenses prior to administration and wait 15 minutes before reinserting

Typical dosing is to instill 1 drop into the affected eye(s) twice daily

am not pregnant nor breastfeeding
will not take nor intend to take concurrently with alpha-2 agonists, beta-2 agonists, carbonic anhydrase inhibitors, ceritinib, dronedarone, etofylline, fexinidazole, fingolimod, grass pollen allergen extract, mavorixafor, ponesimod, rivastigmine, Siponimod, tasimelteon, tofacitinib, or white birch allergen extract

Understand local ocular adverse effects such has conjunctivitis and lid reactions have been reported with chronic administration
Understand dorzolamide is a sulfonamide and although administered ocularly, systemic absorption may occur and could result in hypersensitivity or systemic adverse effects such as blood dyscrasias, Stevens-Johnson syndrome, toxic epidermal necrolysis, or fulminant hepatic necrosis
Understand use is not recommended in narrow-angle glaucoma as its use in this condition has not been studied

Medication Description
Dorzolamide/Timolol ophthalmic solution is a prescription combination eye drop used to manage elevated intraocular pressure in individuals with open-angle glaucoma or ocular hypertension (high pressure in the eye).

This dual-action medication combines dorzolamide, a carbonic anhydrase inhibitor, and timolol, a beta-adrenergic receptor blocker. Together, these ingredients work to decrease the production of aqueous humor (fluid in the eye), effectively lowering intraocular pressure and helping to prevent optic nerve damage and vision loss.

This medication is commonly prescribed when monotherapy (beta-blockers alone) does not provide sufficient pressure control. It is especially helpful for patients with open-angle glaucoma who require more aggressive treatment or are seeking a simplified two-in-one solution.

How to Use:
- Typically used as 1 drop into the affected eye(s) twice daily, approximately 12 hours apart
- Remove contact lenses before administration and wait at least 15 minutes before reinserting
- Avoid touching the dropper tip to the eye or any surface to prevent contamination
- Apply light pressure to the inner corner of the eye after instillation to minimize systemic absorption
Warnings:
- May cause burning or stinging upon application
- Use with cautioned in patients with asthma, COPD, heart failure, or bradycardia due to the timolol component
- Monitor for signs of systemic beta-blocker effects such as fatigue, dizziness, or slowed heart rate
- Not recommended for use in patients with severe kidney impairment or known hypersensitivity to sulfonamides
