Zepbound® KwikPen® contains tirzepatide, a dual GIP and GLP-1 receptor agonist that helps regulate appetite, reduce food intake, and slow gastric emptying. By enhancing the body’s natural satiety signals, it helps patients feel full sooner and stay full longer, which supports sustained weight loss over time. It is administered as a subcutaneous injection once weekly using a multi-dose pen device designed for patient self-administration. Treatment typically begins at a low dose of 2.5 mg once weekly and is gradually increased to improve tolerability and effectiveness, with a maximum dose of 15 mg weekly. The KwikPen contains four fixed doses for weekly use and should be injected on the same day each week, with rotation of injection sites such as the abdomen, thigh, or upper arm. Zepbound is intended for chronic weight management and may also be used in adults with obesity and obstructive sleep apnea. It should not be used in patients with a personal or family history of medullary thyroid carcinoma or multiple endocrine neoplasia syndrome type 2, and caution is advised in patients with a history of pancreatitis or gallbladder disease.
