Ofloxacin ear drops are a quinolone antibiotic solution used to treat bacterial ear infections. They may be used for infections of the ear canal and certain middle ear infections when there are tubes or a perforated eardrum. This medication treats bacterial infections and will not treat viral infections.
How to Use:
Use ofloxacin ear drops exactly as directed. Wash your hands, warm the bottle in your hand for 1 to 2 minutes, lie with the affected ear facing up, and place the prescribed number of drops into the ear. Stay on your side for at least 5 minutes and complete the full course, even if symptoms improve.
Warnings & Precautions:
Ofloxacin ear drops are for the ear only and should not be taken by mouth. Do not touch the dropper tip to the ear, fingers, or other surfaces. Keep the infected ear clean and dry, and avoid swimming unless your provider says otherwise. Contact a provider for severe pain, rash, allergic reaction symptoms, lack of improvement after about a week, or repeated ear drainage.
Side effects may include change in taste and ear irritation.
