Galliprant contains grapiprant, a prescription medication for dogs used to help control pain and inflammation associated with osteoarthritis. It targets the prostaglandin receptor involved in pain and inflammation while avoiding some pathways affected by traditional NSAIDs.
How to Use:
Give Galliprant by mouth exactly as prescribed by your veterinarian. It is often given once daily and may be given with food if stomach upset occurs. Do not combine it with other NSAIDs or steroids unless your veterinarian directs you to.
Warnings & Precautions:
Tell your veterinarian about kidney disease, liver disease, stomach ulcers, pregnancy, nursing, or other pain medications. Contact your veterinarian if vomiting, diarrhea, appetite loss, black stools, behavior changes, or yellowing of the skin or eyes occurs.
Galliprant tablets side effects may include vomiting, diarrhea, decreased appetite, and lethargy. While it is generally safer than traditional NSAIDs, long-term use may occasionally result in changes to liver or kidney values, though this is rare. Regular monitoring and veterinary evaluation are advised during prolonged therapy for arthritis pain.
