Qelbree® (viloxazine) is a prescription non-stimulant medication used to treat attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) in adults and children aged 6 and older. Unlike stimulant medications, Qelbree® works by affecting norepinephrine signaling in the brain to help improve focus, reduce impulsivity, and decrease hyperactive behaviors. It offers an alternative treatment option for patients who cannot tolerate or prefer to avoid stimulant therapy.
Qelbree® is typically taken once daily and may be started at a lower dose before gradually increasing to achieve the desired therapeutic effect. While it can begin improving symptoms within weeks, optimal benefits may take time as the dose is adjusted.
Usage Instructions:
Take exactly as prescribed by your healthcare provider
Typical starting dose is 200 mg once daily, which may be increased weekly to a maximum of 600 mg daily
Swallow capsules whole, or open and sprinkle the entire contents on applesauce or pudding and consume within 15 minutes—do not chew or crush the granules
May be taken with or without food
Take at the same time each day for consistent results
Warnings & Precautions:
Not a controlled substance and therefore is not associated with having the same abuse potential as stimulant ADHD medications
May increase the risk of suicidal thoughts in children, adolescents, and young adults. Monitor closely for mood or behavior changes
Use with caution in patients with liver impairment, cardiovascular conditions, or a history of psychiatric disorders
Possible side effects include drowsiness, decreased appetite, irritability, nausea, or fatigue
Avoid alcohol, as it may worsen side effects such as drowsiness
